PHARE 2006/018-147.05.01 Quality Education for Labour Market – Active adaptation of university education to the labour market requirements

Duration of contract: 12 months (1 December 2008 – 30 November 2009)

The contract’s general objective is the elaboration, empirical substantiation and assisted piloting of implementing an adaptation model of the educational academic offer to the labour market requirements from the point of view of the competences and qualifications necessary for the contemporary society.

Contract’s specific objectives:

  1. Identifying the main characteristics of university programmes in four subject areas: law, mechanical engineering, communication sciences and information technology;
  2. Identifying the needs of competences and qualifications existing on the labour market in the four subject areas;
  3. Drawing up quality standards of the contents and framework-programmes for Bachelor degree university studies in the four subject areas;
  4. Assisted piloting of framework-programmes in 20 university departments (five for each subject area;
  5. Disseminating the results of the applicative research and of the improvement actions proposed by experts in each of the four subject areas.


Contract’s undertaken results - project total:

  • R1- Evaluative study on the status of implementing university programmes in the four subject areas (presented to the beneficiary until 30.06.2009);
  • R2- Study on the needs of competences and qualifications existing on the labour market concerning the four subject areas (presented to the beneficiary until 03.06.2009);
  • R3- Quality standards of the training content and framework-university programmes reviewed and developed in the 4 areas (presented to the beneficiary until 17.07.2009);
  • R4- 20 faculties/university departments (5 in each area) assisted during September-October 2009 in adapting the current curriculum to the labour market requirements (the Report on the viability of implementing framework-programmes in the four subject areas will be presented to the beneficiary on 02.11.2009)
  • R5- A national conference to disseminate the project’s results and the viability of implementing the solutions proposed will be organised on 25.11.2009 at the latest (approximately 100 participants among universities and employers of academic graduates).
